Hue is an open source system, which means that you can program your light yourself if you want to.
Hue API makes it possible to program the light itself via the Hue Bridge. Here you can then connect the system with other Smart Home systems and make the light react exactly as you want. Raspberry Pi is also possible here and offers even more options.
You can use other light sources in the Hue system as long as they run the same standard within ZigBee. It is e.g. IKEA Trådfri and Osram Ledvance Smart +. That way, you can expand your system with light sources that Hue does not have, e.g. lamps etc.
IKEA Trådfri light sources are installed on your Hue Bridge as follows: The light source and the Bridge must be within reach of each other - they must touch each other when searching. But first you need to reset the light source. This is done by switching the light on and off 6 times in quick succession, right after which the bulb should flash. Then you take the bulb up to the Bridge and do an automatic search in the Hue app.
